Ladies Club Information
Tuesdays are Ladies’ Day at the club. Join us in the morning for the shot gun start or the evening groups that get started from 3:00PM onward.
The morning Ladies sign up at the Golf Shop and teams are made up consisting of varying skills and abilities. Individual games, team fun games and mixing it up are enjoyed through-out the season. This is great way to meet new people, have some fun and maybe learn a few rules of golf.
The evening Ladies also play games that involve some individual play and team games. Sign up at the Golf Shop as groups or individuals.
Brian offers great meal specials for the Ladies in both groups.
FALL REPORT
Thanks to all Ladies of the club for another great season. The weather was kind of wacky but the course was back to its former glory.
In June we held the Ladies Tournament in the newer format, (2 Lady Team Best Ball) for the 2nd year. The theme was “Hollywood Calling” and many different and creative outfits were paraded around. 88 Ladies attended and went home with a pair of Paula Creamer sunglasses, thanks to Heritage Credit Union for their generous sponsorship. Our tournament next year will be June 9, 2012. Mark your calendars. Thanks to Jeannie Clement and the tournament committee for putting on another successful tournament.
Our Club Championship was held on July 16 & 17, 2011. The new Club Champion & Junior Champion is Amber Arnold. Low net winner Ann Gouk. The 4 low Gross and 4 low Net Ladies from the tournament then qualified to play in the West Kootenay Team Challenge at Birchbank. Team members – Low Gross – Amber Arnold, Myrna Baulne, Lorna Manzer, Janet Thompson. Low Net – Ann Gouk, Heather Pottle, Jeannie Clement, Linda Tamblyn. We finished 3rd Low Gross out of 8 teams. Kate Weir of Birchbank shot par 72, and Balfour team had a hole in one.
We hosted our new annual exchange with Christina Lake on July 12. Next year we will be visiting their course. The Granny’s tournament was held on Mother’s Day, without rain. The scramble is a lot of fun and open to all Ladies of the club.
The evening (business) ladies enjoyed another successful season. They had a number of shot gun starts and 2 exchanges with Rossland Trail ladies. Many thanks to Trudy Biln for securing sponsors for the Ladies’ Nights. Also thanks to the Pro Shop for putting on the games every week.
Feel free to join the Ladies for coffee at the Monte Carlo, Tuesdays at 10:00AM. The Ladies will be getting together for their annual Christmas Luncheon to be held on December 6th at 12:30pm at the Little Bear Restaurant.
Thank you to Shirley Dickson who has taken on the treasurer this year. Also thanks to Rene Spinks who has looked after the secretary position the last few years.
I look forward to getting input from all the Ladies about improvements that may enhance our time at the club.
